With new and pre-owned ejector trailers for sale from such manufacturers as BMI, Euroejectors, Fruehauf, JBC, Kaessbohrer, and King Trailer, these trailers take their name from the ejection-like mechanism housed in a bulkhead in the trailer that pushes goods being transported across the trailer’s floor and out the rear.

Compared to tipper trailers, ejector trailers make unloading considerably quicker. They’re also considered better suited for unloading material in tight areas, including in sheds where tippers might have trouble operating or underneath power lines where they run the risk of hitting the lines and causing electrical-related damage. Further, an ejectors’ lower center of gravity when unloading is viewed as safer than a tipper, particularly when unloading on uneven ground or in high winds.

Another advantage of ejector trailers is the finer control they give operators over how quickly to unload the trailer and how much of it to unload. Some models seal the bulkhead, floor, and gates against leaks in order to carry liquid materials and finer seeds and grains. Models may also feature an open, closed, half-pipe, or compactor design, as well as fast-moving floors to speed unloading times. Models may also be compatible with such attachments as spreaders, blowers, and screw conveyors.
