Scania inaugurated its new Scania Bridgwater service centre on 5 December with the help of Torbjörn Sohlström, the Swedish ambassador to the United Kingdom. The new £5.3 million facility has a staff of 27 employees and sits on three acres. It has 11 work bays, parking space for 51 cars and 42 heavy goods vehicles (HGV), and a recycling centre. The location will officially open on 18 December 2018.
“Our new location will enable us to continue to achieve the high levels of customer service that we are associated with,” says Nigel Champion, general manager of Scania Bridgwater. “The new location will provide more space for vehicles to manoeuvre and reduce congestion and enable us to not only keep up with service demand, but grow the business too. We look forward to welcoming all of our customers to our new facility.”
Sustainable Service
In addition to being a full-service centre offering maintenance, parts, and repair for all-makes and a new and used truck dealership, Scania Bridgwater is also a highly sustainable facility that meets the company’s strict environmental policies. This includes wildlife preservation and efforts to “minimise the site’s impact on its surroundings,” Scania says. One example is the high-efficiency heating system that uses radiant panels and air-source heat pumps to improve overall efficiency. The hired developer, Roselea Properties Limited, used local workers and materials as much as possible throughout the entire construction process to reduce that impact even further.
“This opening is especially personal for me, as I was involved with the very first opening of Bridgwater in September 1995,” says Martin Hay, managing director of Scania (Great Britain) Limited. “I’m extremely proud to see how it has developed. It shows that through loyal customers and dedicated staff just what can be achieved. We have every confidence that Scania Bridgwater will continue to provide a fantastic service in the future.”
