Bott Limited, a workplace storage and vehicle conversion specialist based in Bude, Cornwall, recently purchased two new Scania S 410 4x2 trucks and has another one on order. The most recent orders show a continuing commitment to the brand, as the company currently has four Scania R-series trucks in its fleet, ranging from 410 to 440 horsepower. Each of the company’s Scania trucks has a seven-year repair and maintenance contract, which will be carried out by Scania Exeter.

“For us, quality and service are key; that's why we've gone with Scania, both for the vehicles themselves and the repair and maintenance contracts that support them,” says Chris Sweeney, logistics manager at Bott Limited. “We operate an intensive transport service, running outbound with deliveries of our workshop equipment and returning with raw materials and various other regular backloads. Each of our trucks is heavily utilised and we depend upon their availability – hence our decision to minimise the risk of disruption by opting for premium trucks and service.”

    Hard Workers

Bott Limited uses the Scania trucks to tow 14 Schmitz Cargobull curtainsider trailers, on average, 80,000 to 100,000 kilometres per year. The trucks make around 150 to 200 deliveries per week, but the company also uses them as advertising tools. A number of trucks features images of workshop equipment on their liveries, while others sport images of some of the vehicle conversions the company has completed.

    Keeping The Drivers Happy

Sweeney says driver comfort and welfare was a major factor in choosing Scania trucks, and he adds that Bott Limited’s drivers are happy with the R-series and S-series so far. “We encourage our drivers to take pride in their trucks, and allow them to show them at local events if they so wish,” says Sweeney. “This all plays a part in our success, for when our drivers are our ambassadors. A committed, professional driver arriving at a customer's premises in a smart truck certainly makes a difference and we know this is something our clients genuinely appreciate.”
