Concrete trucks can refer to both concrete mixer trucks and concrete pump trucks. Depending on the model, the former may be available in 2x4, 4x4, 6x4, or 8x4 configurations and include self-loading equipment; a rotating drum that can mix thousands of pounds of concrete while in transit to commercial or industrial construction sites; hydraulically powered fold-over steel chutes and extensions; a water tank; outriggers; weight-batching equipment; suction and wash-down hoses; and backup cameras.

Concrete pump trucks share similar features and may include remote-control abilities but are typically much larger in scale. Concrete pump trucks enable delivering concrete to where it’s precisely needed on a construction site, including otherwise tough-to-reach multiple-floor locations or cramped spaces between buildings. Concrete pump trucks do this via folding and articulating boom extension pipelines that can measure 30 meters and longer and rotate up to 360 degrees or more. A chief advantage of concrete pump trucks is that they don’t need to be immediately next to where concrete will be delivered.

Manufacturers of concrete mixer trucks and pump trucks include DAF, ERF, Foden, HINO, Isuzu, IVECO, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Fuso, Piccini, Renault, Scania, and Volvo.
