Renault Range K Overview

Even with a design which is geared towards durability rather than nimbleness, there are a number of features which help the K Range to manoeuvre effectively even on very rough terrain. Obstacle clearance capacity is class-leading, while the turning radius has been kept to a minimum, meaning even in tight spaces it should be able to be deployed effectively.

Renault Range K Overview

The Range K from Renault Trucks has been built to be both tougher and more efficient than the models that have come before. And for heavy construction work this is exactly the combination that works best, keeping fuel costs down while ensuring long-term reliability. Used examples of the K Range are available, with engines starting at 380hp and rising to 520hp. The smallest model weighs 18 tonnes, while the biggest edition is a full 50 tonnes, with significant payloads piling on top.

Rugged Build

The ruggedness of the Renault Range K is unquestionable and obvious at a glance, since these models feature steel bumpers which are split into three sections to ensure that they can easily be repaired, replaced and maintained without burdening owners with excessive costs. Steel is also a hardier material than plastic or alloy, allowing added protection for the front of the truck, which is most likely to come up against obstructions when used in a construction environment. There are even headlamp grills and protection screens so that crucial components can be shielded from damage, which keeps everything in good working order and should make second-hand models a good investment.

Durability Tested

Even with a design which is geared towards durability rather than nimbleness, there are a number of features which help the K Range to manoeuvre effectively even on very rough terrain. Obstacle clearance capacity is class-leading, while the turning radius has been kept to a minimum, meaning even in tight spaces it should be able to be deployed effectively. The 32-degree angle of approach is another defining feature that gives these trucks the edge over the competition. Meanwhile, the double reduction tandem drive axle can boost traction and stop slippery surfaces getting the better of the K Range.

The operational limits of these trucks have been tested thoroughly by Renault's team, meaning that as well as being designed to improve driver safety, each model is intended to withstand outside temperatures as high as plus 60 degrees and as low as minus 40 degrees. And crucially this testing was not just done in a lab; Renault worked with commercial customers prior to launch in order to analyse performance in real-world conditions. When it comes to surviving extremities, the K Range is definitely up there with the best of them.

When it comes to efficiency, various steps have been taken so that the K Range trucks from Renault are less of a burden on the budget. Euro 6 compliant engines in combination with the Optidriver gearbox technology and efficient cruise control capabilities prevent waste. And both 4x4 and 6x6 models are available with heavy-duty components on board to prevent wear and tear. Even the shape of the cab is intended to lessen air resistance, leading to fuel savings as well as enhanced handling. And with standard day cabs as well as day and night cabs featuring a bunk and a standard height roof available, the K Range trucks are more than capable of keeping up with busy schedules. These trucks can be a good choice in the second-hand market.
