Dawsongroup Sweepers Expanding Cleaning Services With New Isuzu 7.5-tonne Trucks

Dawsongroup Sweepers will add another 20 Isuzu 7.5-tonnne trucks to its fleet by the end of the summer on top of the 10 it has already received. The firm is using the trucks to attract new customers and expand into new markets. (Photo courtesy of Isuzu.)

Before summer’s end, Dawsongroup Sweepers will have received 30 new Isuzu 7.5-tonne (8.3-U.S.-ton) refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) and tippers from Isuzu Truck UK that will help the firm’s efforts to expand its business to include new customers and markets. Part of UK asset-rental company Dawsongroup, Dawsongroup Sweepers has already received 10 150-horsepower (110-kilowatt) Isuzu N75.150 4x2 RCVs.

    Operational & Financial Sense

Based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Dawsongroup’s rental portfolio exceeds 35,000 assets serving numerous business units. The company’s Sweepers Division was established in 2005, and has a fleet of 700-plus vehicles that perform municipal and industrial cleaning applications. Dawsongroup Sweepers claims to have the UK’s largest fleet of self-drive sweepers.

“We have had Isuzu trucks on our sweeper fleet since 2015, and they have proved to be an excellent all-round reliable product within our growing asset portfolio,” says Glen Carruthers, Dawsongroup Sweepers managing director. “The payload we get from the Isuzus is absolutely brilliant, and our customers really do benefit from their total overall performance. It made complete operational and financial sense for us to continue with Isuzu for these latest fleet deals.”

Of the 10 Isuzu N75.150 (E) trucks the firm has already received, five have Farid Hillend Minimatic 8-cubic-metre (10.5-cubic-yard) fully sealed refuse bodies and five are equipped with Farid Hillend Micro L 5-cu-m (6.5-cu-y) fully sealed food waste bodies. The latter five can handle waste streams with high liquid content, and are part of the firm’s efforts to reach new customers with sealed food waste collection services.

By the end of this summer, Dawsongroup Sweepers will have received 10 refuse collection vehicles, 10 tippers, and 10 cage tippers from Isuzu Truck UK. (Photo courtesy of Isuzu.)

    Proven Performance

Isuzu 7.5-t trucks are available with tipper/arb tipper, dropside/beavertail, box-/curtainsider, and refrigerated bodies and either 150- or 190-HP (140-kW) powerplants. E models feature an Easyshift automated transmission. The 20 additional Isuzu 7.5-tonners that Dawsongroup will receive this summer include 10 tipper and 10 cage tipper variants that will help the firm expand its fleet into different markets.

“Dawsongroup is a household name within the UK commercial vehicle industry and our strength in providing trucks that are ideally suited to the demanding requirements of the municipal market has seen the Isuzu marque grow in numbers within their sweeper division,” says Lee Barwick, Isuzu Truck UK fleet sales manager. “This year’s orders for 30 vehicles are testament to the proven performance and operational suitability of the Isuzu 7.5-t truck range within the Dawsongroup business over the last six years.”
