Tipper trucks and vans are versatile because they can be used to haul away debris during general construction, roadwork, house renovations, storm cleanup, and so many other applications. Whenever there’s an opportunity to fill up a trailer and then dump the contents at a landfill or other site, these vehicles are ready for the job.
Some tipper trucks and vans have higher sides so you can fill them with dirt, gravel, and other materials, and others have a borderline flatbed configuration with shorter walls around the edges for larger, more solid hauls. There are also vehicles with up to 8-wheel drive, which makes them a perfect fit for work in construction and on out the way worksites.
When comparing new and used tipper trucks and tipper vans, the main difference is size, but it’s also important to consider maximum operating capacities. Larger tipper trucks may be suitable for medium duty and heavy duty workloads, but tipper vans are typically designed for light duty (and occasionally medium duty) work. Manufacturers of tipper trucks and vans include DAF, Ford, IVECO, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, and Volvo.
