Commonly known as the DAF 65, this model is now the smallest in DAF's CF range. Considerably bigger than the LF 55, the 65 is much more comfortable for longer distance operations, and gives the driver much more room in the cab.

The 65 is a good all-rounder, which is why it's one of the most popular choices for haulage firms in the UK - obviously the bigger trucks are better for drivers who take their lorries long distance on a regular basis (the DAF XF105 in particular is perfect for long-haulage), but the CF65 offers a lot of flexibility, and is ideal for smaller businesses who need to be able to cater to a variety of tasks with a small fleet of trucks.

Versatility is the name of the game when it comes to the 65. Billed as being ‘low on fuel consumption, high on performance', it's easy to see why the trucks are so popular for distribution in the UK.

DAF's engines are among the finest available, and this is absolutely the highlight of the 65. Featuring a 6.7 litre GR engine, which boasts an increased cylinder capacity and provides more torque, the DAF CF65 now delivers up to 285hp.

Available at Euro 5 and EEV standards, (choose the post-2013 Euro 6 DAF CF for later trucks,) the economy of the 65 is probably its best feature. There are still some Euro 4 CF65s around though, so be sure to check carefully. Be aware: buy a Euro 4 or 5 standard 65 and you'll need to top up with AdBlue.

It's also worth noting that even though the CF65 has a larger cab than the LF55, as mentioned above; the inside height of the cab is actually lower. It's possible to find a Space Cab (DAF's range of roomier cabs) for the 65 though, which you can't get for the 55. The Space Cab affords much more room, so it's worth looking into if you're thinking about buying a 65.
