In spite of being retired, the Axor range is still making a splash in the used market, and there are a lot of different curtainsider units available, helping organisations to handle distribution duties via a reliable platform. This type of body is essential for efficient transport in urban environments, but with sleeper cabs equipped on some models you can also invest in an Axor curtainsider that is well suited to long-haul journeys.

    Drivers of Axor curtainsiders can expect a cushioned, comfortable ride for both themselves and the load they are carrying, with air suspension offered on many used models. This helps to even out the lumps and bumps of any road surface and also reduce fatigue in the process. Add to that things such as cruise control and the option to select a truck with an automatic gearbox, and the Axor can start to look like a very appealing option indeed. Heated mirrors with electric controls, air conditioning and a CD and radio combination unit are also found on plenty of models. Some of the later additions to the Axor curtainsider family prior to its discontinuation can also offer in-cab Bluetooth connectivity, which makes hands-free calling and audio streaming possible.

    Tail Lifts and Roller Shutters

    A good second-hand Axor curtainsider will feature a tail lift at the rear, the capabilities of which will need to be established before you buy. Many models can cope with up to 1500kg in goods and equipment at once. But whatever the rated specifications of the tail lift, it needs to be in working order to be of any use. If you can inspect it, along with any other elements of the truck, then you will have a better idea of how well it has been maintained and if it makes sense as an investment.

    Curtainsiders in the Axor range often feature a roller shutter door at the rear, with the interior of the body available to configure and use how you see fit. Some specialised curtainsiders with refrigeration capabilities are part of this range, so if this is the kind of truck you require, then you can adapt your search accordingly.

    Buying a Used Axor Curtainsider

    Mercedes-Benz endowed the Axor range with a number of engines over the years, each of which was built to the highest standards of efficiency and emissions that were possible at the time. And so while Euro 6 power plants may never have made their way into this type of curtainsider, that is no reason to write it off completely. Recent models with low-mileage Euro 4 and 5 engines can be found, which if properly looked after will live on for hundreds of thousands of miles with no signs of age. Many second-hand models will be sold with a long time until the next MOT is required. Most will have service history records available to check so that you can be sure key components have been changed and replaced at the appropriate intervals.
