    The lightest box vans from DAF fall into the 7.5 tonne weight category and are mostly made up of LF45 models, or for the more recent versions see the Euro 6 DAF LF box trucks complete with rigid sides and a range of rear door set-ups, including barn doors and rolling shutters. Bodies on DAF models may also feature side access panels for ease of use, meaning you may want to pick a box van as an alternative to a curtainsider of a similar size. The length of the body of box vans in this category can vary, with models ranging from 12 to 22 feet. Other features to look out for include tail lifts at the rear to help load bulky items without needing as much manpower. You will also want to keep an eye on the cab configuration offered by used models. Some will feature a standard three-seat cab, while others can come with crew cabs and even sleeper compartments. Tailor your search to your requirements and you should not have trouble finding an affordable and efficient DAF box van.

    The larger rigid box vans from DAF are usually found in the CF range, weighing 18 tonnes and offering a similarly broad selection of body styles, depending on the decisions made by the former owner. With more load space comes the requirement for bigger engines, more spacious cabs and the potential for long-distance haulage, which is why sleeper cabs are a common feature on these models.

    Manual and auto gearboxes can be found on DAF box vans, as well as air or spring suspension, disc brakes and the latest engines. Engine efficiency and emissions are determined by the Euro rating that is achieved by a van's power plant, and this will usually vary depending on the age of the vehicle.

    So if you are buying second-hand, then newer models will offer Euro IV or V engines, while older Euro III-engined box vans may be more affordable upfront but cannot match their successors in terms of fuel consumption.

    You should expect a quality second-hand DAF box van to come with a good service history, ensuring that it has been maintained to a high level even if it has covered a lot of miles.

    Even with the right documentation to reassure you, it is worth checking a truck of this kind comprehensively so that you can pinpoint any potential problems before you take ownership.
