Hino Factory Opens
The Hino plant is created after Hino Heavy Industry Co. is separated from Diesel Motor Industry Co. Initially, Hino begins producing track-laying vehicles for the military.
Hino gets current Name
The company is renamed again, losing the ‘Heavy’ to become Hino Industry. Heavy-duty tractor and trailer production starts as the private sector begins to need more diesel powered trucks.
Hino starts making trucks
The heavy-duty diesel truck and bus manufacturers we know today starts to take shape as production begins.
Hino Motors is Born
Another rebranding, as Hino Diesel Sales Co. is merged with Hino-Renault Sales Co., and Hino Diesel Industry Co. finally becomes Hino Motors.
700 Series Predecessor Launched
The Super Dolphin Series goes into production – this would later become the 700 series for sale on TruckLocator.co.uk.
Revamp of Super Dolphin
The Super Dolphin Series is overhauled and becomes almost the same vehicle we know today.
300 Series Launched
The Dutro series is launched in Japan – these trucks are sold in the UK as the 300 Series.
Hino Bought by Toyota
Hino is purchased by the Toyota Group, though unlike other manufacturers outside of Japan, such as ERF, this is not made necessary through poor finances. As a result, Hino becomes even more dominant in the Japanese truck market.
Hino Establish UK Dealers
Hino recruited the existing UK Foden dealers after PACCAR closed the Foden brand down.
