Canter replaced
The Canter name was replaced by the Mitsubishi Fuso in many countries as it proved to be too expensive for the firm.

New Canter introduced
The new-look Canter was introduced, with much of the focus being on safety. At the same time, the Canter Eco Hybrid model was launched exclusively for the Japanese market.

The EEV version of the Canter was launched with emission levels lower even than the standard Euro 5 model. 130,145 and 175hp was available from the 3-litre diesel engine - guaranteeing light weight and good power.
