Yorkshire-Based Metal Recycler Purchases New Volvo FL Skip Loader Thanks To Local Support

Hot on the heels of buying two Volvo FM tractor units last year, K A Anderson Metal Recyclers Ltd, based in Yorkshire, recently added a new Volvo FL rigid skip loader to its fleet. The truck, which was supplied by Crossroads Truck and Bus Ltd, features a Volvo D8K engine that produces 250 horsepower and 950 newton-metres of torque and has a 6-speed I-Sync automated transmission with Power Take-Off (PTO) to run the attached Harsh skip body. The truck has a short day cab with vertical exhaust on a 3,800-millimetre wheelbase with front and rear steel suspensions. Volvo backs the FL with a 5-year Volvo Service Contract and all maintenance and repair tasks are done later in the evening to prevent downtime during the day.

    Keeping It Local

In addition to performance, K A Anderson also stuck with the Volvo brand thanks to its relationship with its local Crossroads Truck and Bus dealerpoint in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire. “Our company policy is to support the local business community,” says Keith Anderson, owner at K A Anderson Metal Recyclers Ltd. “We have operated Volvo trucks in the past and recently returned to the brand. Our three new Volvos are performing well and the drivers find them easy to use. The truck is completely all-new for us, as we’ve recently moved over to Harsh equipment. Once again, the reason behind this was local service, as Harsh’s headquarters are in nearby York.”
