Polaris Logistics & Distribution, a Polaris Group division based in Manchester, recently added five new Schmitz Cargobull S.CS MEGA curtainside trailers to its fleet. The company plans to haul these trailers five days per week and will always have access to the 1,700 authorised workshops Schmitz Cargobull has throughout Europe.

Each of the tri-axle trailers features the manufacturer’s VARIOS Top Technology, a system that allows the operator to change the height of the trailer in increments of 50 millimetres (roughly 2 inches). The primary benefit of this technology is that drivers can prioritise fuel efficiency and aerodynamics when hauling smaller loads by keeping the roof low and then instantly add additional capacity when necessary. You can also lift one or both sides for easier access for forklifts.

    Other Standout Features

In addition to the VARIOS Top Technology, the S.CS MEGA also possesses the ability to slide open the roof for unloading via crane. The curtainsiders also feature a modular chassis design, which combines galvanised steel and aluminium for a lighter-weight, yet durable trailer. In fact, the manufacturer is so confident that it backs the trailers with 10-year rust-through warranties.

    “The Perfect Specification”

“We’ve operated Schmitz Cargobull trailers in the past and have always been impressed with how robust they are; when I approached the team again, they worked closely with us to achieve the perfect specification,” says Polaris Managing Director Adam Barry. “Our work varies day to day, so the added versatility these trailers bring is fantastic. By adjusting the roof height to suit the load, we are seeing instant fuel savings of up to £150 a week—reducing our running costs and improving our sustainability. Plus, being height-adjustable helps to set us apart from our competitors and gives us the opportunity to work on a far wider range of jobs.”

    Find The Right Curtainside Trailer

You will find a large selection of new and used curtainside trailers for sale on Truck Locator from Schmitz Cargobull and other popular brands.
