Cornwall-Based Spa Specialist Acquires One Of The First 2021 Isuzu Grafter N35.125(T) Rigids Sold In The UK

OC Spas recently purchased one of the first 2021 Isuzu Grafter N35.125(T) trucks in the UK. The new vehicle features a six-speed automatic transmission, dropside bodywork, and a Fassi F30CY rear-mounted crane. (Photo courtesy of Isuzu.)

OC Spas, a hot tub specialist based in Hayle, Cornwall, recently added a new 2021 Isuzu Grafter N35.125(T) 6D truck to its fleet. The 3.5-tonne (3.9-U.S.-ton), twin-rear-wheel rigid features a six-speed automatic transmission, dropside bodywork, and a Fassi F30CY crane in the rear. It has a maximum towing capacity of 3.5 t as well. The company plans to keep its new Isuzu in operation for around six years.

    Welcome Stability

OC Spas spec’d its Grafter with a long wheelbase so that it serves as a solid platform for the rear-mounted crane. The company often has to lift spas over high walls and fences, and its new truck is more stable, especially with landing legs engaged.

“With the Isuzu, we simply turn up, drop the landing legs for complete stability and quickly load or unload,” says OC Spas Director Jonny Bottrell. “The new Isuzu is totally self-contained and by using the crane’s remote control system, it is now only a two-man job whereas with the previous vehicle we definitely needed three men on-site to ensure safe working practices. It makes the whole customer service much more cost-effective as well as a much easier and safer proposition.”

    “Hooked On The Grafter”

“We are literally hooked on the Grafter as the perfect vehicle for our operation,” Bottrell says. “We deliver and collect hot tubs and spas mainly from properties where vehicle access is limited. The compact footprint of the Grafter is perfect not only for driving down the narrow Cornish lanes but also for parking as close to the property as possible on customers’ narrow driveways. Not only would a bigger-footprint vehicle have difficulty with the local road network, but they are hardly ideal for accessing restricted private driveways. With the Isuzu, we can park close to the house, steady the vehicle, and begin loading or unloading in minutes, without causing any damage to the property.”
