Mostro Pizza Uses Isuzu Jiffy Banquet Trucks For Unique Home Delivery

The challenge of takeaway has always been keeping the food hot and fresh during its journey from the restaurant to the home, but one pizza shop has found a new way to consistently deliver hot, oven-fresh pizzas to its customers. When the first pandemic lockdown hit England, Mostro Pizza looked for ways to expand business under government restrictions and came up with the idea to cook the pizza right in the customer’s driveway. Mostro accomplished this using a 3.5-tonne (3.85-U.S.-ton) Isuzu Jiffy Banquet customised with refrigerated and frozen storage areas, a proving area, and a gas-powered stone pizza oven capable of cooking three pizzas in 90 seconds.

The pizza company, which is part of West Sussex-based event and party catering firm Monster Foods, currently has three trucks in use in East Grinstead and Crawley. Things are going so well that Mostro has plans to franchise nationwide.

    About The Truck

In the pursuit of the perfect pizza delivery truck, Mostro took their concept ideas to specialist catering bodybuilder Jiffy Trucks, who brought the idea to life starting from the standard production Isuzu Jiffy Banquet model. The truck is built on the Euro 6 Isuzu Grafter 3.5-t chassis which Mostro Pizza says has a compact footprint and small turning circle that makes it more manoeuvrable at customers’ houses.

“We worked closely with the team at Jiffy and Isuzu to create a bespoke unit that we believe is the first takeaway vehicle that actually allows fresh food to be cooked on a driveway,” says Mostro Pizza Managing Director Lee Putner. “Fitting everything into a compact 3.5-t truck was a challenge which collectively has successfully been met.”

“With the latest Isuzu Grafter trucks at Mostro Pizza, we see the proven flexibility of the Grafter within this innovative home delivery business,” says Isuzu Trucks UK Fleet Sales Manager Jon Corcoran. “The range and diversity of applications for the Grafter is unlimited and we are really excited about playing a major role in the growth and development of the world’s first pizza takeaway service that cooks the food outside the customer’s premises.”
