Mercedes-Benz made a big impression at the inaugural Road Transport Expo, held last week in Warwickshire, by presenting its all-electric eActros and the new narrow-cab Fuso Canter 3S13 for the first time to a UK audience.

“We were delighted to play our part in supporting the first Road Transport Expo, to showcase our comprehensive range of vehicles and to meet so many operators, drivers, and enthusiasts,” says Kathryn Mitchell, head of marketing communications, PR and events at Mercedes-Benz Trucks. “The launch of the eActros is a major milestone in the history of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and it was very exciting to be able to display this groundbreaking vehicle.”

    More On The eActros

The eActros series is available as a 4x2 or 6x2 rigid and is designed for heavy-duty, short-haul distribution. At the Road Transport Expo, Mercedes-Benz showcased its 27-tonne (29.8-U.S.-ton) eActros 400 powered by four 112-kilowatt-hour battery packs. The electric truck offers a range of 400 kilometres (249 miles), a peak power output of 400 kilowatts (544 horsepower), and a payload capacity of 16.6 t (18.3 U.S. t). The eActros 300, available as a three- or two-axle chassis, features three 112-kWh batteries and has a rated single-charge range of 300 km (186 m). The three-axle, 27-t 300 has a payload capacity of 17.7 t (19.5 U.S. t), and the two-axle variant has a 19-t (20.9-U.S.-t) gross weight and 10.6 t (11.7 U.S. t) payload capacity.

    The New Fuso Canter

Mercedes-Benz also showed off the latest Fuso Canter developments at the show and had a Canter 3S13 with factory-built dropside bodywork displayed on its stand. The 3.5-t (3.86-U.S.-t) Fuso Canter now comes in a right-hand-drive configuration with a 1.7-metre (5.6 feet) S cab, providing a narrower alternative to the 2 m (6.5 ft) C cab. Mercedes-Benz says S-cab Canters can be fitted with a bodybuilder-friendly wheelbase of 3,400 millimetres (134 inches). Attendees also had an opportunity to take the full-electric Fuso eCanter for a spin at the expo’s Ride & Drive demonstration area.
