Spartan Distribution Receives New Flagship Renault T480 For Day & Night Deliveries

“The competitor manufacturer’s vehicle was getting 8.7 mpg and the Renault truck is getting 9.9 mpg,” says Spartan Distribution Director Martin Barron. (Photo courtesy of Renault.)

Working every day of the week, Spartan Distribution Limited’s new Renault T480 6x2 runs night and day, hauling Pallet Network loads at night and making daytime deliveries in London. The logistics company selected its new truck to handle demanding double shifts and same-day contracts.

“Our trucks are workhorses, and the Renault trucks handle everything we throw at them,” says Spartan Distribution Director Martin Barron. “They are amazing; roomy, good-looking trucks and our night driver in particular loves them.”

    The New T480

Around 50% of the Spartan Distribution fleet consists of Renault Trucks, and the company views its latest addition as the new flagship. “We’ve now got seven Renault Trucks on our fleet, including three 44-tonne tractor units (T480s and T460s), a 12-t D rigid, and three Renault Trucks Master CitiLoader vans, all supplied by Allports,” says Barron. “It’s been a big shift to move to a new manufacturer, but the vehicles have been worth their weight in gold.”

The flagship truck’s attractive livery is a blend of blue, white, and red, and the inside is just as well-appointed. Drivers, for example, benefit from a heated and vented seat, and the cab is supported with a four-point air suspension system.

    Range T Performance

Renault Ts are long-distance trucks available with a wide range of day and sleeper cabs and in 4x2 or 6x2 axle configurations. Range T trucks are outfitted with either a DE 11 or DE 13 engine featuring patented Wave Piston technology, Renault’s new Turbo Compound tech, and other refinements that collectively help reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 10%. The DE 13 engine on Spartan Distribution’s T480 is paired with the Optidriver gearbox and technologies that optimise fuel consumption, including the Fuel Eco Pack.

“The fuel consumption has been impressive—the competitor manufacturer’s vehicle was getting 8.7 mpg and the Renault truck is getting 9.9 mpg,” explains Barron. “With fuel prices the way they are, this gives us a considerable saving over the year. We have been delighted with the switch to Renault Trucks.”
