For the first time ever, Renault Trucks had its full range of trucks—including the latest electric models—on display in the UK during the Road Transport Expo, which took place 30 June to 2 July at NAEC Stoneleigh. The new event in Warwickshire featured more than 170 exhibitors with static displays, live demonstrations, ride and drives, seminars, and breakout areas to cover every aspect of the industry, from choosing vehicles and fuels to fleet compliance, new technology, and more.

    Electric Options

Visitors got to see Renault’s full range, from its used standard range to recently launched Trafic, TCK Evolution, and E-tech lines, including the E-Tech Master OptiModale last-mile e-mobility concept. The OptiModale is an industry-first multimodal concept that combines a 3.5-tonne (3.85-U.S.-ton) LWB L3H1 E-Tech Master van with Low Loader Luton bodywork by Horton Commercials with an eBullitt electric cargo bike, and a parcel-carrying drone from UAVTEK designed for zero-emissions deliveries in congested urban areas.

Renault also had national waste recycling specialists Recycling Lives’ first-of-its-kind 18-tonne D Wide Z.E. skip loader at the event. Created in conjunction with Recycling Lives, the vehicle has a 3,900-millimetre (153.5-inch) wheelbase and four 66-kilowatt-hour battery packs that provide an operating range of up to 150 kilometres (93 miles) on a single charge.

    Renault’s 16-tonne E-Tech D 4x2 took part in the expo’s Ride & Drive event. The electric truck has a Bevans box body, four 66-kWh lithium-ion batteries, a maximum power output of 185 kW, and 425 newton-metres (313 pounds-foot) of maximum torque. The E-Tech D 4x2 can cover 200 to 250 km (124 to 155 mi) on a single charge.

    More Highlights

The recently launched Renault Trafic Red Edition trucks was on display at the Road Transport Expo as well. These 2.8- to 3.1-t (3- to 3.4-U.S.-t) trucks are fully customisable with options for vans, double-cab, floor-cab, and combi versions.

The TCK Evolution lineup was one of Renault’s biggest draws. The T High 520 Evolution 6x2 is equipped with a Euro 6 Step E 13-litre engine and runs on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), an alternative to diesel that reduces greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 90%.

“We are excited and delighted to take part in the inaugural Road Transport Expo and to showcase Renault Trucks’ full capability for the first time at a UK exhibition,” says Alex Williams, head of brand and communications at Renault Trucks UK and Ireland.
