Renault Trucks, a French subsidiary of the Volvo Group that manufactures commercial trucks and military vehicles, recently announced its new Roadpad product, an audio, navigation, and entertainment system that the firm is adding to its T, C, and K Series Renault Trucks.

    The Perfect Passenger

Roadpad consists of a 178-millimetre (7-inch) high-resolution touchscreen that’s within easy reach of the vehicle operator. The all-in-one driver’s ideal companion features an integrated on-board assistant and HGV GPS navigator, with Tom-tom turn-by-turn directions that ensure the vehicle always gets to the intended destination on time. The system also supports viewing the route in 2D or 3D, displays real-time traffic conditions, and lets the driver enjoy music and entertainment playback via the Deezer streaming platform, to help pass the time on those long-haul journeys. The system also supports DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting), so the audio quality is always top notch.

    Arrive Safely

In designing the device, Renault Trucks have put a lot of effort into ensuring those who use it are able to drive safely. Roadpad’s hands-free telephone capability supports two phones at a time, keeping the driver focused on the road while making both work-related and personal calls. The driver can also use Roadpad to access weather forecasts and Google Maps to determine upcoming road conditions and plan alternate routes if delays are expected.

Roadpad is configurable with up to four cameras, including side cameras and rear cameras. These are designed to help with performing lane changes, trailer coupling, backing up, and other manoeuvers easily and safety.
