The Renault Kerax tipper range was in production for almost 16 years, during which time it was completely overhauled once in order to help it remain competitive in the construction market. With the last examples rolling out of the factory in 2013, there are plenty of second-hand Kerax tippers available on the market with minimal miles on the clock and lots of life left in them. There are also older models which have seen plenty of use but still have a lot to offer operators.

Since being succeeded by the C Range and K Range tippers, these tough 32-tonners have not lost any of their lustre. Boasting high-capacity steel bodies, impressive maximum payload capabilities and resilient tipping rams, the Kerax tipper family has not come to the end of the road quite yet.

Typical Used Renault Kerax Tipper at TruckLocator

The standard 8x4 axle configuration preferred for Kerax tippers delivers not only excellent off-road performance but also good weight distribution, allowing for the truck to remain stable and in control even if the ground is uneven and the surface loose. The locking differential aids with operation on construction sites, while things such as cruise control, disc brakes and air suspension help when it needs to take to the road. Features vary across the different Kerax tippers that are available second-hand, but the consistent quality of Renault's machines means that buyers can be confident in the underlying engineering.

The type of tipper body featuring on a Kerax tends to be a standard steel affair, with a front hydraulic tipping ram allowing any load to be elevated for easy removal from the rear. Bulk tippers with cube bodies built from steel or alloy can be found in this range, since the Kerax platform is relatively easy to adapt to suit most needs. If the tipping mechanism is intact and working well, this type of vehicle can be put to work immediately by any new buyer.

Some tippers in the Kerax family will also feature grabloader capabilities thanks to crane and bucket assemblies mounted to complement the standard tipper body. If this type of truck is of interest, then you can narrow your search significantly, but be aware that such models may not always be on offer.

Euro 6 engine technology was not introduced to Renault's construction trucks until the Kerax range was discontinued, but you can still find Euro 5 and Euro 4 models on the used market which are efficient and affordable to run. Maintenance should be simple, but ensure that prior owners have kept the truck serviced so that you do not have any significant repair costs to bear in the short term.

The Renault Kerax tipper range is mostly oriented around day cab models, although some sleepers do become available on the used market. Rugged and reliable, these trucks take construction duties in their stride and continue to impress, with plenty of space in the cab and lots of comfort features, including air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors as well as reversing and near-side view cameras on some models.
