HJ Cole Haulage Ltd Prioritises Driver Comfort With New Renault Trucks C460 8x4 Tipper

HJ Cole Haulage Ltd has added a Renault Trucks C460 8x4 truck with a sleeper cab to its fleet, which now numbers five vehicles. The Bournemouth-based hauler equipped the truck with a bulk tipping body from Aliweld and is using the vehicle to transport animal feed, wood chips, and various aggregates across southern England and the UK. The acquisition was fueled by the firm’s previous positive experience with Renault trucks and the proximity of a new depot opened in Poole by Sparks Commercial Services, which supplied the C460.

“Having a Renault Trucks dealership offering first-class truck servicing up the road from us was very appealing, and the salesman, Rob Coxon, has been great to deal with,” says HJ Cole Haulage owner Keith Trickett. “For peace of mind and to ensure maximum uptime for our new vehicle, we’ve taken out a five-year repair and maintenance contract, too. I am very happy we’ve come back to Renault Trucks.”

    A Happy Driver

HJ Cole Haulage’s C460 is likely to attract a fair amount of attention with its handsome blue exterior and white lettering as well as its Alcoa Dura-Bright aluminum wheels and twin roof-mounted air horns. The cab interior, meanwhile, has its driver plenty happy thanks to its four-point cab air suspension, luxury driver seat, ultimate leather steering wheel, memory foam mattress topper, refrigerator, and storage lockers. The truck is also spec’d with a Roadpad+ onboard assistant with a 7-inch touchscreen display, GPS navigation, audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, and connectivity for up to four cameras.

HJ Cole Haulage owner Keith Trickett says he’s always found Renault trucks to be good, reliable vehicles, and he viewed the company’s new C460 8x4 as a good fit for his operation. (Photo courtesy of Renault.)

“The driver is delighted,” Trickett says. “He likes the spacious cab, automatic gearbox, and engine performance. Back in the day, he drove a Renault Trucks Lander, then swapped to a competitor manufacturer’s vehicle, and has now come back home to Renault Trucks. He is very happy.”

    Renault Trucks Range C

Renault outfits its Range C construction trucks with a curved dashboard that places all truck functions within easy reach of the driver and front storage lockers located above the dashboard. A mechanical anti-intrusion locking system in the cab provides added driver safety when the vehicle is parked. Buyers can also upgrade the living area with an optional, larger Extensia lower berth that’s 2,009 millimetres long by 800 mm wide (79 by 31.5 inches). Range C trucks have gross vehicle weights from 18 to 32 tonnes (20 to 35 U.S. tons). They’re available with 11- and 13-litre diesel engines rated for 380 to 520 horsepower (280 to 382 kilowatts).
