Alliance Flooring Distribution Adds 11 New Volvo FH Aero 460s To Fleet

Two years ago, Alliance Flooring Distribution (ADL) didn’t have a single Volvo truck in its fleet. Today, the Volvo marque makes up 30% of ADL’s fleet. ADL provides warehousing and distribution of flooring materials throughout the UK from its facilities in Worcester, Hartlepool, Hemel Hempstead, and Newbridge.

To support its growing business, the company recently added 11 new Volvo FH Aero 460 6x2 tractor units to its daily delivery fleet, joining 39 other previously purchased Volvos, including five electric models.

Investing In Reliability

“Volvo now represents around 30% of our fleet, whereas two years ago we had none, so the change has been significant,” says Phil Yates, managing director of ADL. “The performance we’ve already seen with our first FH Aeros, plus our FLs FMs and FM Electrics, played an important part in that shift, with each model proving its value quickly and earning the confidence of the entire team.

“Build quality and reliability were at the top of our list of priorities for this latest order, and the FH Aero has demonstrated both since we acquired our first unit in 2024. Our drivers have also given consistently strong feedback. They describe the FH Aero as easy to handle and comfortable over long shifts.”

Built For Efficiency

ADL’s FH Aeros are equipped with Euro 6-compliant 460-horsepower D13TC Step E engines, 12-speed I-Shift automated gearboxes, and the I-See predictive cruise control. LED headlamps, tighter gaps, and the Camera Monitoring System reduce drag and conserve energy.

The Camera Monitoring System replaces traditional exterior mirrors with cameras for improved aerodynamics and a larger field of vision. The system improves vision in rainy, dark, and direct sunlight conditions, while the auto-panning function follows the rear of the trailer as it turns. Safety is further enhanced by the Side Collision Avoidance Support, which uses radars on the truck's sides to detect and alert the driver to pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles.

The Globetrotter cabs have leather upholstery, dual armrests, microwaves, refrigerators, and fully electronic air conditioning with carbon filters. The FH Aeros will make deliveries throughout the UK five days a week, logging 100,000 kilometres (62,000 miles) annually for the next five years.
