Logistics provider Online Group recently updated its trailer fleet with 20 new Profi Liner curtainsiders from Krone UK. The logistics company, with a fleet of more than 300 vehicles, will deploy the trailers throughout its operations, including its automotive logistics sites in Dagenham and Dover. Online Group, which will mark 40 years in business next year, is a founding member of the Palletforce network, which provides national pallet and parcel distribution throughout the UK and Europe. The decision to upgrade the trailers was brought on during a pandemic-induced lull.

“A temporary downturn during the pandemic gave us the opportunity to take stock and we decided it was the ideal time to bring down the average age of our trailers,” says Online Group Managing Director Steven O’Leary. “We have bought from Krone for over 15 years, so they were the obvious choice. They are a great piece of kit – extremely reliable and very easy to maintain.”

    About The Profi Liners

The new Profi Liner has a standard weight of less than 6 tonnes (6.6 U.S. tons) and is designed for easy repair if damage occurs. Pre-galvanised components and welded ladder frame construction with continuous longitudinal beams and profiled cross members extend the service life of the trailer and enable the fitting of smaller floor plates.

Most components are screwed or bolted on to easily swap out as needed. The trailer features cranked tarpaulin rollers in the out beam for smooth curtain sliding. The outer beam has also been strengthened and the robot-manufactured steel container doors have a precise fit. The Profi Liner has a solid three-part front wall made of steel and firmly bolted to the frame that allows it to brace against any load in the event of an emergency. Roof height options run from 2,600 to 2,700 millimetres (102 to 106 inches), and the sliding roof is equipped with diagonal trussing for reinforcement.

“The beauty of the Profi Liners is that we can maintain and repair them ourselves, in our workshops at Dover,” O’Leary says. “Krone UK has always been very responsive, and we have no issues in getting parts or product support.

“Our drivers seem to really like the Krone trailers—in fact, they compete to get them whenever they come in,” O’Leary adds. “They are reliable, the price is competitive, and they are real workhorses, which is why we keep buying them.”
