DAF Trucks Is On The Hunt For The Oldest DAF Vehicle In Operation

DAF Trucks is launching a Facebook campaign to answer the question “what is the oldest DAF truck still in operation, and where is it?” (Photo courtesy of DAF.)

DAF Trucks recently launched a Facebook campaign in an effort to find the oldest DAF truck still in operation. The company is celebrating its 90th anniversary by highlighting the longevity of its vehicles while also welcoming longtime DAF customers to share their stories. The first entry is from John Tarrant, who owns a 1984 DAF 2100 that still runs to this day. In a video on the DAF Trucks N.V. Facebook page, Tarrant praises the gearbox of his 2100 truck as well as its drivability, saying “I enjoy driving this more than driving my car, it’s very comfortable.”

Tarrant’s Livestock purchased its DAF 2100 back in 1984, and it is still in operation to this day. (Photo courtesy of DAF.)

“She has 34 years of work done, never let us down and she always comes back to base, whether it’s night or day, she always landed here into this yard,” Tarrant continues. “She still has the same oil pressure the day she came. If there is another DAF truck older than this lorry we are looking at here today in the world, we are only waiting for it to come up.”

    Open Invitation

DAF fans and customers from all over the world share pictures of their trucks on social media, and the company hopes this campaign will result in entries from as far back as the 70s or even earlier. If you have an older DAF model that’s still running to this day, you can visit the DAF Trucks N.V. Facebook page and post your photo or video. DAF will then reveal the oldest in-service truck in late November.

If you’re looking to purchase a vehicle of your own, you’ll find a wide range of used DAF trucks for sale at TruckLocator.
