We are often asked this question at Truck Locator and, looking back over the years, DAF have been the runaway market leader for new truck sales for decades. With a share of over 30% of the new truck market, the Dutch company has gone from strength to strength under the ownership of US-based PACCAR.
The first half of 2019 saw DAF’s volumes increase by nearly 50% over their 2018 levels in a marketplace up by ‘just’ 34%.
Looking at the overall number of registrations is one thing, but DAF’s sales of trucks in the UK will be made up of many more light trucks than Scania, for example. Data is notoriously difficult to come by regarding registrations of models of trucks – even prior to the unannounced inspections of the truckmakers by the European Commission back in 2011.
But what concrete facts are there that we can share?
