Birmingham-based transport specialist Cargo Express has returned to Schmitz Cargobull trailers after more than a decade since its last purchase with the manufacturer. The firm chose the two S.CS Mega curtainsiders for their quality, security, and adaptability.

Cargo Express hauls partial and full loads, including a lot of specialist work with irregular freight, throughout the UK and internationally with a fleet of over 70 trucks and 50 trailers.

“We’re still running some Mega trailers we purchased in 2011, so knew from experience that the product is high-quality,” says Cargo Express Managing Director Joseph O’Reilly. “The trailers are perfect for running to the continent, and the excellent communication throughout the build process really impressed us, too.”

About The Schmitz Cargobull S.CS Mega

Cargo Express fitted its low-riding trailers with Power Curtains for quick, safe loading and unloading and Schmitz Cargobull’s anti-vandal system for load security. With Power Curtains, the body is built without support laths and the tarpaulin has loops for flexible rear load securing.

In compliance with EU regulations, the Mega trailers have hydraulic height-adjustable roofs with a maximum internal height of 3 metres (10 feet). The company’s international routes often move packaging, high-value automotive parts, racking, fridge doors, and other items that benefit from the trailers' available space. The Mega trailers also have Schmitz Cargobull’s durable Modulos chassis with a 10-year rust-free guarantee.

    Flexibility Eases Transport

The roof can be raised to increase the side loading height, making loading and unloading easier and preventing damage in the process. An optional anti-theft protection system adds wire mesh within the roof tarpaulin to prevent cutting and unwanted intrusion.

The double-decker system maximises the cargo space for freight that can’t be stacked. The system can be customised with 50-millimetre (2-inch) spacings to meet the needs of the load.
