DAF Trucks recently showcased its New Generation XD, XF, XG, and XG⁺ trucks at the IAA Transportation 2024 show in Hanover, Germany. The IAA Transportation conference showcases the latest innovations in the commercial vehicle, logistics, and transport sectors, including micromobility, cargo bikes, small vehicles, commercial vehicles, and buses. This year, 145 products made their world debut at the conference.

DAF also demonstrated its range of battery electric vehicles and their support products, such as PACCAR charging stations and energy storage systems.

    Next-Gen Trucks

The new generation of XD, XF, XG, and XG⁺ trucks have PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines with new valve timing, dual-drive coolant pumps, and 2-cylinder air compressors. The turbocharger and EGR systems also received an update. The rear axles have a new pinion design and new ratios. The DAF Digital Vision System, Predictive Cruise Control, and aerodynamic package come as standard, along with a 10-year subscription to PACCAR Connect.

All new generation DAF models also come with the DAF Digital Vision camera system, which replaces conventional mirrors. When combined with Predictive Cruise Control and low rolling resistance tyres, standard on 4x2 and 6x2 versions, the camera system helps increase fuel efficiency by 6% or more.

    Electric Vehicles

DAF’s range of zero-emission LFP battery-electric vehicles, including the XB, XD, and XF, covers city, regional, and long-haul operations with ranges of up to 500 kilometres (311 miles). The Lithium Ferro Phosphate batteries are cobalt-free and have excellent thermal stability. Charging and energy storage systems from PACCAR Power Solutions are available to support the move to electric vehicles.

    PACCAR Power

DAF’s booth included a PACCAR Powertrain display with the latest driveline alternatives, including a PACCAR MX-13 engine compatible with HVO and B100 FAME biodiesel, an e-Motor, fuel cell technology, an MX hydrogen engine, and an e-Axle.

“The best trucks on the market have become even better,” says Harald Seidel, DAF Trucks’ president. “As a result of a series of innovations, the New Generation DAF XD, XF, XG and XG⁺ models are setting new standards again in efficiency, safety and driver comfort. Furthermore, we are offering a full range of battery electric vehicles with ranges up to 500 kilometres. In the meantime, we continue to explore and develop alternative, sustainable road transport technologies. Our presence at the IAA Transportation 2024 illustrates that DAF is ready for the future.”
