Renault Trucks has made major upgrades across its C, K, T, and T High ranges for 2021. The improvements include safety features that benefit both drivers and other road users, as well as design changes to reduce fuel consumption. The latter includes changes to the cab’s aerodynamics, the addition of Euro 6 Step E engines, and new technology to lower fuel consumption. Drivers of 2021 Renault trucks can take advantage of a new Optivision predictive cruise control system with an Eco mode that adjusts acceleration, gear shifting, cruise control, and deceleration to optimise fuel usage.
Safety Upgrades
Renault fits the T, T High, and C on-road models with five-cell LED front lamps featuring daytime running, main beam, fog, and indicator functions. Better side visibility is made possible through a new wraparound light design, and Renault Trucks says the LED light output is three times that of standard lights. Optional safety upgrades include anti-intrusion door locks, cameras, and presence sensors, as well as vision doors to provide better visibility of pedestrians and cyclists. An automatically activated anti-rollaway parking brake reduces the risk of unexpected vehicle movement when the driver leaves the cab.
Fuel Savings
The cab's new aerodynamics improve airflow around the front grille and wheel arch extensions, and a new Pulse and Glide function further improves fuel consumption by maintaining the vehicle's speed around the cruise control set point (+/- 2 km/h). Renault fits the 2021 T and T High vehicles with Category A tyres, which the firm says are the most fuel-efficient tyres on the market. The end result of the design and component upgrades is a fuel savings of up to 3%.
