Volvo Trucks recently delivered 50 Volvo FH-460 4x2 trucks to Den Hartogh Logistics, which is based out of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The initial delivery is part of a total order of 100 trucks, which are designated for work at depots in Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK. Den Hartogh Logistics is a family-owned business that has been in operation since 1920. It has 43 locations across 24 countries and specialises in transporting liquids and materials for customers in chemical, dry bulk food, gas, and polymer industries.
"For the work we do, the Volvo I-Shift is certainly the best transmission available," says one of the company’s drivers. "When you accelerate, brake or negotiate a bend, the load moves in the container, but the Volvo I-Shift gearbox always reacts very well. Furthermore the Volvo FH is very stable on the road with a fast reacting air suspension system, which is very efficient."
Performance & Safety
Den Hartogh Logistics picked the Volvo FH line specifically for its 460-horsepower engine, which supports hauling larger loads while also offering better fuel efficiency. "The higher engine power resulted in less gear changing and a higher cruising speed, giving us a corresponding reduction in fuel costs," says Erik Groen, equipment manager for the company.
Another draw for Den Hartogh Logistics are the safety features available in Volvo’s FH line and every other vehicle from Volvo Trucks. Both companies go beyond the minimum and encourage safe practices at every step in their respective supply chains.
