Earthworks UK, a recycling, site clearance, and grab lorry hire company based in Avonmouth, Bristol, recently added a new Volvo FMX 8x4 model to its fleet. The truck features an Extra High, B Ride chassis with a 5,100-millimetre wheelbase, day cab, Epsilon M125 crane, and Boweld Taperlite DS tipper body. It also has a D13K engine that produces 420 horsepower, 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission, and 23-tonne, single reduction drive axles. This marks the first time the company has purchased a new vehicle.

    In With The New

“We’ve previously relied on used vehicle purchases that included some Volvos. The new FMX is drawing attention out on the road. Importantly, the driver loves it and he’s very happy with its performance levels and car like comfort,” said Paul Treasure, director at Earthworks UK. “The FMX’s arrival coincides with a concentration on haulage within our business. The new truck will reduce our downtime rates and we’re also keen to utilise out of hours inspections and servicing at Truck and Bus Wales and West in Avonmouth will maximise the Volvo’s productivity levels even further.”

    Volvo FMX

The Volvo FMX is a versatile truck, available in rigid models as well as tractor units with a day cab, sleeper cab, Globetrotter cab, or crew cab. Engine options include the D11K, which produces between 330 and 460 horsepower, and the D13K, which offers between 420 and 540 horsepower.

You’ll find a large selection of used Volvo trucks for sale at TruckLocator, including a number of Volvo FMX models.
