Matlock-Based Transport Company Adds First-Ever Volvo Trucks To Its Fleet
B J Waters Transport Ltd, a transport service provider based in South Darley, Matlock, recently purchased its first Volvo models after comparing them to trucks from its “preferred marque.” The three FH 6x2 tippers feature 500-horsepower Volvo D13K engines and I-Shift automated transmissions. The trucks are covered by three-year Volvo Gold Service Contracts and all repair and maintenance will be carried out by Hartshorne Motor Services Ltd, the dealerpoint which also supplied the vehicles.
So Far, So Good
B J Waters has a 60-strong fleet, but the Volvo FH models, which went into operation back in November, are already making an impact by placing “consistently in the top six on fuel, week in week out,” says James Waters, the company’s director. The trucks also feature 295/80 tyres, which Waters says can add “anywhere up to 90,000 kilometres of extra wear” when compared to “the current industry standard of 315/70s.” All in all, the company is pleased with the performance of the trucks and the drivers are coming around as well.
“They're very happy with the vehicles. It took a little time to get used to the change, but they’ve all fully embraced the Volvos now,” says Waters. “We're very impressed with the performance we're getting from the new Volvos and that's certainly given us food for thought when it comes to ordering again. Volvo put their money where their mouth is, their product is doing what they said it would do and that's saving a lot of money in fuel!”
