DAF Celebrates 250,000th XF Super Space Cab With Special Edition

DAF touts their Super Space Cab as “the largest and most comfortable cab on the market,” so they pulled out all the stops with a new special edition commemorating their 250,000th XF truck with the roomy cockpit. The Super Space Cab, a descendant of DAF’s 3600 Space Cab from 1984, has been catering to driver comfort since 1994. The new XF Super Space Cab Celebration Edition is identifiable by its exterior stripes, but it’s what’s inside that counts: a large, luxurious interior outfitted in cognac-coloured leather.

Super Spacious Interior

The cavernous, 12.6-cubic-metre volume of the Super Space Cab’s Exclusive interior gives over-the-road drivers plenty of elbow room when it’s time to relax and rest. There’s 2.23 metres of standing height, more than enough for nearly any driver. The lower bed is almost as long as the ceiling is high, cushioning the occupant in a 15-centimetre-deep mattress that is 2.2 m long and 80 cm wide. A commensurate amount of storage space, 925 litres, comes standard with the Super Space Cab Celebration Edition, as does a voluminous refrigerator.

DAF says that it tailors the trim of the cab to the local preferences of its customers around the world. The rear wall features controls for the air conditioning/heating system the manufacturer calls “extensive,” possibly as a reference to the amount of space in the cab requiring climate control. DAF also includes its TNR navigation system in the package.

Chassis & Engines

DAF offers the XF Super Space Cab Celebration Edition on 4x2 FT and 6x2 FTG tractor chassis, as well as on every type of rigid configuration chassis (the FA family). Its engine options include the 450-horsepower (330-kilowatt) PACCAR MX-11 and the PACCAR MX-13 in either 480-HP (355-kW) or 530-HP (390-kW) power levels.
