Maze Logistic Solutions, a transport company based in Ipswich, recently added its first Volvo trucks, two FH tractor units paired with tri-axle skeletal trailers for hauling containers. The 44-tonne, 6x2 vehicles feature Globetrotter cabs, 13-litre, Euro 6 Step D engines that produce up to 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts) and 2,500 newton-metres (1,844 pounds-foot) of torque. Maze expects to put roughly 130,000 kilometres (80,778 miles) per year on each of the trucks, which are supplied on a four-year contract hire agreement with Volvo Gold repair and maintenance contracts.

    Standout Features & Technologies

The interiors of Maze Logistic Solutions’ FH trucks feature leather seats and steering wheels designed to “help the firm attract and retain top drivers,” Volvo says, while the exterior features the company’s trademark white and blue livery. Maze is also taking advantage of Volvo’s Dynafleet telematics platform that helps fleet managers monitor vehicles from a computer or mobile device. When combined with the long-haul fuel package plus, these technologies allow the company to track driver performance and find ways to improve fuel efficiency wherever possible.

“It’s a tough market for driver recruitment and retention, so we’re focused on giving our team the best package we can—and that includes a great truck! The new Volvos definitely tick all the right boxes; plus they give our business a stand-out presence on the road,” says Ryan Jiggens, general manager of Maze Logistic Solutions. “We’re really excited for what Dynafleet can bring to our business, and the savings it will help us to unlock. Previously we’ve tracked driver and vehicle performance via a series of Excel spreadsheets; now Dynafleet is set to take our fleet management to a whole new level.”

    Volvo FH Details

Volvo designs the FH series for minimum air resistance and maximum uptime. The truck comes with your choice of four sleeper cab configurations ranging from high roof to flattop. Notable features in the cab include Volvo’s new neck-tilt steering wheel option and a high-backed seat with extra adjustment travel. Engine options for the Volvo FH include six-cylinder diesels ranging from 420 to 540 hp (313 to 403 kW) and 2,100 to 2,600 N-m of torque. The truck comes in axle configurations ranging from 4x2 all the way up to 10x4.
