Dorset-Based ETS Truck & Van Becomes One Of Mercedes-Benz’s Newest Authorised Repairers

ETS Truck & Van of Blandford Forum, Dorset, is the newest member of Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ Authorised Repairer network. This is an important development because Poole-based Marshall Truck & Van recently closed and ETS, which is only 15 miles (24 kilometres) away, can now fill in to maintain “continuity of representation” for local operators, according to Mercedes-Benz. In fact, some of the employees that worked at the now-defunct Poole dealership have joined ETS Truck & Van.

As an Authorised Repairer, ETS will be able to service both Mercedes-Benz and FUSO vehicles, both of which are Daimler brands. It’s open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. In addition to a six-bay shop, dedicated parts department, and various offices, ETS Truck & Van also has a 24-hour service van (a Mercedes-Benz, naturally) that handles emergency roadside assistance.

    Welcome Back

ETS Truck & Van Managing Director Colin Gale is no stranger to the Mercedes-Benz brand. He worked as a technician for a Poole-based Mercedes-Benz dealership in 1986 and was promptly promoted to service advisor then to service manager and eventually to general manager. He left the dealership in 1994 to start his own business, which was originally named Euro Truck Services before officially becoming ETS in 1997. It took Gale just short of 25 years to return to the marque along with his son Darren, who serves as ETS’s operations director.

    “One-Stop Shop”

“We have some great people who are proud to be representing the Mercedes-Benz Trucks brand,” says Gale. “Our interest has always been in forging long-term relationships, by providing high-quality maintenance, repair and parts services at sensible prices. The aim, as far as possible, is to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for customers. To that end there’s a dedicated ATF (Authorised Testing Facility) lane at our Poole workshop that can also be used to MoT test Blandford customers’ trucks, and we have introduced additional services at the new branch such as tachograph installation and calibration, and brake testing. We’re also aiming to add LOLER weight testing for tail-lifts and will continue to extend our offer as the business develops.”
