Renault Trucks UK & Ireland Sells 86% More LCVs In 2020 Than In 2019, Including Master Range Models

The Master Red EDITION is just one example of a model that helped Renault achieve a record sales year in 2020 in the light commercial vehicle category. That combined with the fully-electric Master Z.E. doubling it sales year over year resulted in an 86% increase in LCV sales over 2019. (Photo courtesy of Renault.)

Renault Trucks UK & Ireland sold 86% more light commercial vehicles (LCVs) in 2020 than in 2019, according to a recent announcement. While France is still No.1 in terms of purchasing Renault vehicles, the UK and Ireland market is now in second place in the European market. Renault credits much of its success to the flexibility of its Master series in particular, highlighting that 92% of all Masters sold in the UK and Ireland are “now supplied with some form of conversion.”

    “Unprecedented Growth”

“This year has cemented our tailored value proposition, working in partnership to create a bespoke solution tailored to the customer’s application,” says Grahame Neagus, Renault’s head of LCV UK & Ireland. “We are proud to say that, in what has been a challenging and unpredictable year, we have seen an unprecedented growth in our LCV performance, a tribute both to our strategy of targeted growth and to the hard work and professionalism of the Renault Trucks dealer network. Our performance has been strong across van, chassis cab, and platform cab variants, and across all areas including our flourishing municipal business in both diesel and fully electric Z.E. powertrains.”

    More Master Details

One standout in Renault’s Master range is the Master Red EDITION, which can be configured as a panel van, a platform cab, or a minibus chassis cab. Engine options include light- and heavy-duty units that produce between 130 and 180 horsepower (97 and 134 kilowatts) and from 330 to 400 newton-metres (243 to 195 pounds-foot) of torque, and the engine is paired with either a manual or automated six-speed transmission. There are also several wheelbase lengths and vehicle height options available that make the Master particularly easy for bodybuilders to work with.

Another vehicle that contributed to Renault’s impressive sales growth is the all-electric Master Z.E., which more than doubled its year-over-year sales. Also available as a panel van, platform cab, or chassis cab, the Master Z.E. is powered by a 57-kW (76-HP) engine and features a fully automatic transmission. Thanks to the Z.E. 33 battery, this Master model has a maximum operating range of 75 miles (121 kilometres). Renault believes that the introduction of a 3.5-tonne (3.9-U.S.-ton) Master Z.E. will encourage more sales growth in the near future.
