Ipswich-Based Maze Logistic Solutions Rings In 10th Anniversary With New Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 2
Container transport specialist Maze Logistic Solutions celebrated its 10th anniversary in early December with the addition of a limited-edition Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 2 truck. Maze is no stranger to the three-star brand, as all but nine vehicles in its 26-truck fleet are Mercedes-Benz tractor units with GigaSpace cabs. The new Edition 2 is an Actros 2553 with a 530-horsepower (390-kilowatt) 12.8-litre six-cylinder power plant. The company received the truck at a handover ceremony that coincided with an opening-day event for dealer Motus Truck & Van’s new aftersales centre in Witham, Essex.
“The Actros is a great-looking truck, and equipped to a very high standard both outside and in,” says Maze Logistic Solutions Director Ryan Jiggens. “Throughout our 10 years in business, we have been very conscious of the needs of our drivers, and have chosen ever higher vehicle specifications as we’ve looked to enhance their driving experiences while simultaneously supporting our retention programme and building upon the company’s well-regarded reputation.”
Features Galore
Mercedes-Benz has made just 400 Actros Edition 2 trucks available to customers worldwide, and only a select few in England. The limited-edition truck is also available as a rigid and with a BigSpace cab and 15.6-L six-cylinder engine option. In addition to 4x2, 6x2, and 6x4 configurations, a left- or right-hand steering wheel is available. Premium interior features include a sliding and tilting sunroof, a suspension seat with climate and massage functions, and a comfort mattress.
Drivers also benefit from the twin-screen Multimedia Cockpit with 12-inch instrument panel and included satellite navigation, Proximity Control Assist, Bi-xenon headlamps with cleaning system, and LED taillights. Mercedes-Benz’s Comfort, Driving, and Media Packages also contribute a shaving mirror, a refrigerator, LED ambient lighting, and a sound system. Other features include a notebook holder, Nappa leather on the dashboard and door handles, carbon fibre trim accents, a polished-aluminium Edition 2 badge, and a privacy curtain. Exterior features include an Edition 2-branded sun visor with four built-in LED spotlights, and another three LED work lights behind the cab.
Amazing Looks
Joint Managing Directors Jimmy Simmonds and Steve Snelling established Maze in 2011. In addition to container hauling, the company works for various shipping lines and freight forwarders, and provides warehousing, distribution, and specialist haulage services and bespoke supply chain management support covering all surface transportation. Maze’s new Actros Edition 2 features a rear wall locker system with microwave and flat-screen TV, plus two sets of LightFix light bars from Kuda Automotive, a high-impact livery from Chapple Signs that incorporates black-reflective elements that transition to photo-luminescence in the dark, and bumpers that match the truck’s Moonstone Grey grille and sun visor.
“When we decided to commission a new fleet flagship to mark our 10th anniversary, a Mercedes-Benz was the obvious choice,” Jiggens says. “To my mind, the Edition 2 represents the very best of the best. Ours looks amazing and will be a great marketing tool.”
