As the first Renaults in Knowles Transport’s 120-truck fleet, the new T440 6x2 trucks are a significant departure from the rest of logistics firm’s fleet. The switch to Renault’s T440s was made in part due to the trucks’ promising fuel efficiency and the support of WTL Truck and Van Centre in Duxford.

“Making sure our vehicles are out on the road, with minimal downtime, is key and Renault Trucks was able to tick all the boxes, offering timely pickup, good communication with the workshop, and efficient replacement of parts,” says Managing Director Alex Knowles.

    Renault Delivers The Goods

The Cambridgeshire-based company offers a wide selection of logistics services, and the new T440 6x2 trucks are expected to deliver ambient-temperature goods, drink, and food to various retailers across the UK and Ireland. Before purchasing the T440 tractors, Knowles Transport made certain the drivers would be excited about the prospect of driving a different truck.

“Our driver liked the demo and we’ve spec’d the trucks out nicely,” Knowles says.

Just a few of the cab amenities include Renault’s Ultimate convertible upper bunk, complete with the performance roof console and a multitude of storage compartments. To provide a comfortable ride, the T440s also feature a four-point cab air suspension and ride height control system, as well as the luxury driver’s seat and Ultimate leather steering wheel.

    Range T Performance

Designed for long-haul duties, Renault’s Range T trucks are outfitted with either a DE 11 or DE 13 engine featuring patented Wave Piston technology, Renault’s new Turbo Compound tech, and other refinements that collectively help reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 10%. Knowles Transport’s T440s also come equipped with Eco drive control with Optiroll, technologies that optimise fuel consumption by regulating the truck’s acceleration and deceleration, gear changes, and overall speed.

“Although it’s still early days, the performance is in line with where we need it,” says Knowles.
