Manfreight has recently taken delivery of 20 new Schmitz Cargobull trailers in the S.CS Fixed Roof curtainsider range, allowing the logistics provider to expand its new bulk and dry freight division. The new S.CS curtainsiders are fitted with Schmitz Cargobull’s TrailerConnect telematics for 24/7 monitoring with real-time data about axle load, trailer location, tyre mileage, and speed.

“We’ve been buying Schmitz trailers for the best part of 30 years, we value them as a trusted partner,” says Manfreight Managing Director Chris Slowey. “The technology they have been able to offer us on the temperature-controlled side of our business is second to none and we were keen to incorporate that same level of specification to our curtainsider fleet, as we look to expand this new division.”

The new S.CS Fixed Roof curtainsiders are fitted with a straight front wall and fixed aluminium roof, providing a side loading height of 3.1 metres (10.2 feet). Manfreight selected the XL load-securing side curtain, which offers anti-theft protection. The sturdy new trailers comply with EN 12542-XL load containment standards and are equipped with Schmitz Cargobull’s galvanised Modulos chassis, providing Manfreight with a 10-year warranty against rust-through. The Rotos axles are also covered by a 1-million kilometre or six-year warranty. In addition to the Fixed Roof series, Schmitz Cargobull offers the S.CS curtainsiders in Mega, Power Curtain, Speed Curtain, and Universal body systems.

    More Information With TrailerConnect

The addition of TrailerConnect on Manfreight’s new curtainsider fleet allows management to access trailer telematics data from anywhere. TrailerConnect also lets operators track trailer scheduling data and review maintenance. And if the system senses a trailer has been tampered with, TrailerConnect sends text message alerts or an email to help Manfreight quickly resolve issues.

“They’re a bit more than your standard curtainsider, that’s for sure,” Slowey says. “Having these 100% connected units gives our customers complete faith and confidence that their goods will be delivered on time, every time.”
