Manchester-based Hadfields Transport returned to its preferred truck brand, Mercedes-Benz, after eStar Truck & Van won the company over with its superior service. After a 7-year hiatus from Mercedes-Benz following some dissatisfaction with a previous dealer, Hadfields added two new 18-tonne (19.8-U.S.-ton) Actros 1827 rigids to its 40-vehicle fleet.

    Hitting The Reset Button

“We had always been fans of the Mercedes-Benz brand but were increasingly unhappy with the service from the previous franchisee in our area,” says Hadfields Managing Director Scott Langridge. “So we started to buy vehicles from other manufacturers. While we still had Mercedes-Benz trucks on the fleet, though, we continued to have them serviced at Trafford Park. Since then, eStar have invested in their people and facilities, and in the last 12 to 18 months, they’ve really turned things around and restored our confidence.”

    Ready For Work

Hadfields Transport specialises in the delivery of commercial refrigerated display units, gaming and leisure equipment, and other bulky items nationwide. The new Actros are the first in Hadfields’ fleet to sport the company’s new livery design and are fitted with the 2.3-metre (7.5-foot) StreamSpace sleeper cabs, which offer ample space for the driver and porter on their deliveries.

Safety features such as Active Drive Assist 2, Traffic Sign Assist, and Mercedes-Benz Truck Navigation are available. The secondary Multi-Touch Display helps simplify handling and operation. Hadfields equipped its Actros trucks with box bodies and 2.7-t (3-U.S.-t) cantilever tail lifts.
