R. Collard Brings New Volvo FH16-750 Truck Into Its Operation
R. Collard, based in Everley in Hampshire, England, recently added a Volvo FH16-750 8x4 Pusher Tag axle Tridem truck to its fleet. The heavy haul tractor sports a Volvo D16K Euro 6 engine that can produce up to 750 horsepower and 3,550 newton-metres of torque as well as an I-Shift Crawler automated transmission with Crawler ad ultra-low Crawler gears. It also features the Globetrotter sleeper cab and a JOST 150-tonne fifth wheel, lockers for extra storage space, and two fuel tanks.
Safety Features
R. Collard made the new FH16-750 its own by opting for a variety of packages. One example is the FH Construction Visibility package, which offers rain sensors for the wiper blades and Bi-Xenon headlamps with headlamp cleaners and a setting for changing from running lights to low beams automatically. Other features include a four-camera video system and an alarm system for left turns and Side Scan to avoid collisions with other drivers.
Growing Fleet
The FH16-750, which will be coupled with a five-axle Nooteboom extendable step frame trailer, joins an already impressive fleet of trucks for R. Collard, including a Volvo FL 4x2 rigid, FL 4x2 skip trucks, FMX 8x4s, and FH12s. “We have looked at alternative manufacturers when there's been a shortage of supply, but we have an 80% Volvo fleet,” said Robert Collard, managing director at R. Collard, in a press release. “I have a Volvo 750 digger as well and we have spec'd up our trailer to move that. The other tractor units work on either waste haulage, aggregates or double up as low loaders with step frame trailers, depending on workloads.”
