RGF Logistics Limited, a haulage service provider based in Birmingham, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with the purchase of two Volvo FH16 tractor units. Supplied by Hartshorne Motor Services Ltd, the 6x2 pusher axle duo feature Golden Fleece paintwork to mark the milestone. The Volvo tractor units also have Globetrotter XL cabs, D16K Euro 6 engines that produce 750 horsepower, I-Shift transmissions, and front steel and rear air suspensions. The cab interiors feature Drive Plus+ and Two Bed Living Packages. Other features include leather seats, a top of the range audio system, and a reversing camera.

“Volvo trucks have had a constant presence in our fleet since the early 1970s, firstly with its F88 models. Currently the marque is proving popular with our drivers and Volvo’s performance levels meet the high standards we require,” says Gary Ford, managing director at RGF Logistics Limited. “Therefore it seemed logical to have two range-topping FH16 750s as our Golden Anniversary vehicles.”

    A Golden Anniversary

Each of the Volvo FH16-750 tractor units features a 50-year livery along with the gold metallic paint colour, both of which stand out from the mostly white colour scheme of the company’s other trucks. The trucks were on display at Truckfest Peterborough 2019 where they “drew plenty of attention,” according to Volvo.

    Ongoing Support

RGF Logistics Limited’s new FH16 models also have three-year Volvo Gold Service Contracts, and Hartshorne Motor Services will handle repair and maintenance. “We’ve enjoyed a working partnership with Hartshorne Motor Services since the year 2000 and our policy is to opt for R&M packages for the Volvos’ first 36 months in service,” says Terry Harris, operations director at RGF Logistics Limited. “Afterwards, the trucks come into care of our own workshop team and we also have an Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) on-site. Our standard fleet retention policy is a minimum of five years and we keep vehicles on more local work for the latter half of that period.”

You will find a large selection of used Volvo trucks for sale at TruckLocator.
