Japan Centre Group, a London-based supermarket and restaurant group and purveyor of Japanese goods in the United Kingdom, recently added a new Isuzu F135.240(E) truck to its fleet of nine vehicles. The company now operates five Isuzu models, including three 7.5-tonne trucks, one 3.5-tonne model, and the newest entry, a 13.5-tonne rigid truck. Each of the company’s Isuzu models were supplied by Cordwallis Commercials Ltd in Reading. Isuzu says the truck will conduct daily deliveries to two retail sites in London and one delivery per week to Japan Centre Group’s restaurants in Manchester and Oxford.

    Purpose-Built For The Job

Japan Centre Group first consulted with Reynolds Catering, a loyal Isuzu customer based in Waltham Cross, to see Reynolds’ 13.5-tonne truck before deciding to purchase one for itself. The F135.240(E) features a multi-temperature refrigerated body from Gray & Adams and a Thermo King T-1000R Spectrum refrigeration unit. It also has an Easyshift automatic gearbox and an air suspension. Japan Centre Group only plans to put roughly 15,000 miles (24,140 kilometres) on the 13.5-tonner per year, so it “will be operational for many years within the company’s distribution fleet,” Isuzu says.

    Proven Performers

“Back in 2016, we talked to several truck manufacturers about our future fleet requirements but overall, in terms of payload and efficiency, we felt that the Isuzu would give us the best options. This has been proven over the four years that we have been operating them,” says Tomohiro Nakayama, head of logistics and supply chain operations at Japan Centre Group. “Today as our business has expanded, so too has our requirement to move up the weight range for our distribution vehicles. The first Isuzu 13.5-tonne rigid has just started working for us and this vehicle allows us to provide a far more efficient and economical daily delivery service by using the spacious multi-compartment specification for frozen, chilled, and ambient products in one truck.”

You will find a large selection of new and used Isuzu trucks for sale every day on TruckLocator.
