MAH UK Transport Ltd, a freight services company based in greater London, recently purchased a new Volvo FH16 750 25 Year Special Edition truck. The 4.1-metre tractor unit, which features a Globetrotter XL Cab, pusher axle, and Kelsa LED light bars, joins a fleet of eight 500-horsepower Volvo FH 6x2 tractor units. However, it will stand out from the crowd thanks to its Titan Silver metallic paint job, painted side skirts, and chrome accents. The truck also comes with a five-year Volvo Gold Service Contract, with Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London in Croydon handling maintenance and repairs.

Above & Beyond

Michael Harry, owner of MAH UK Transport Ltd, admits that its new FH16 is “undoubtedly over specified for what we currently do,” which is working with TNT, a freight and logistics service provider with a depot in Croydon. However, he adds that the “truck will have the potential to cater for anything” and open up more capabilities for the company in the future. “We run night shift trunks from Croydon to Birmingham hauling box trailers,” says Harry. “I’m well impressed with the FH16 750’s performance, which is best described as ‘no sweat.’ Even at the maximum 44 tonnes, the engine seems to be barely stretched.”

More On The Volvo FH16

The Volvo FH16 is available as a 4x2 or 6x2 tractor unit or in a rigid 6x2, 6x4, 8x4, or 10x4 configuration. Cab options include sleeper, low sleeper, Globetrotter, and Globetrotter XL cabs with heights ranging from 3,025 to 4,000 millimetres (119 to 157.5 inches). The FH16 has four D16K Euro 6 engine options that produce between 550 and 750 horsepower (410 and 559 kilowatts) and between 2,800 and 3,550 newton-metres (2,065 and 2,618 pounds-foot) of torque. It also comes standard with a 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission.
