Renault Trucks Restores Vintage Magnum To Celebrate The Series’ 30-Year Milestone
Renault Trucks launched the Magnum AE 500 in 1990; the manufacturer says the now-iconic Magnum introduced new levels of driver comfort with its integral cab and fully flat floor. To celebrate the truck’s 30th anniversary, Renault Trucks-authorised dealer RH Commercials restored a vintage Magnum truck with help from Doncaster Trimmers that will appear at shows across the UK and Ireland in 2021.
Renault Red Restore
After stripping down the Magnum to its bare components, the team at RH Commercials meticulously cleaned and replaced parts, and undertook a full chassis refurbishment to make the chassis ready for a respray of Renault Red paint on the shell and glossy black on the chassis. To match the classic look of the 1990 Magnum, RH Commercials added new alloy wheels, tyres, and air horns—making it an almost identical livery to the vehicle that made its debut at the 1990 Motor Show held at the NEC.
Interior Restoration
Inside the cab, the Magnum’s original ErgoVision instrument panel and dashboard were painstakingly cleaned and restored. The red and black colour theme is maintained throughout the interior, including new black carpet, reupholstered CommandAIR driver and Passenger seats in black leather with red stitching, and refurbished beds.
