Volvo FH 460 LNGs Help Exintra Group Provide Environmentally Friendly Logistics To Fashion Retailer Client Primark

Dutch transport and logistics specialists Exintra Group are now using two Volvo FH 460 LNG models to support the logistics operations of its fashion retailer client Primark. For fashion retailers seeking to reduce the environmental impact of their operations, there’s the issue of doing so both with sustainable clothing production practices and environmentally sound logistics. To help its fashion retail client Primark with the latter, Dutch transport and logistics operations specialist Exintra Group is using two Volvo FH 460 LNG (liquefied natural gas) trucks to deliver Primark’s goods. As Volvo notes, the FH LNG operates just like a diesel-powered Volvo FH in heavy-duty regional and long-haul operations but produces 20% less carbon dioxide emissions thanks to its unique G13C engine.

“The question of how we could emit less CO2 with our vehicles in the short term was put on the table by Primark,” says Exintra Group CEO Sander Bogers. “Driving on LNG immediately proved to be an excellent solution for international journeys, and will help to reduce the environmental impact of Primark’s logistics operations.”

    Equal Performance

Exintra’s FH 460 LNG units were supplied by local Volvo Trucks dealer Bluekens Truck and Bus. Available in tractor and rigid models in 4x2, 6x2, and 6x4 configurations, the FH LNG cuts CO2 emissions thanks to it G13C engine, available in 420- or 460-horsepower (313- or 343-kilowatt) ratings. Volvo says the powerplant uses about 90 to 95% LNG, plus 5 to 10% diesel used to ignite the LNG. The result is cleaner operation but with diesel engine-like efficiency, drivability, reliability, and service intervals.

Based in Roosendaal, Netherlands, Exintra Group is made up of several companies, including its HJ Bakker Logistics BV subsidiary, that serve destinations in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and UK. The firm’s pan-European distribution business focuses on the fashion lifestyle product, electronics, and pharmaceutical industries. Its new Volvo FH 460 LNG trucks will serve regular transport runs to UK destinations.

The Volvo FH 460 LNG also features a fully digital driver interface, Volvo dynamic steering, adaptive high-beam lighting, and Volvo’s fuel-saving I-See cruise control and I-Shift automated gearbox solutions.
