Compact Footprint, Big Payload & 3-Year Warranty: Isuzu Trucks A Winning Combination For Scammell Commercial

Essex-based Scammell Commercial is a specialist leasing company that operates more than 75 vehicles in its municipal hire fleet, which typically operate within London, working with councils and housing associations. The firm recently upgraded its leasing fleet with the addition of six new Isuzu trucks, including 3.5-, 7.5-, and 13.5-tonne GVWs (gross vehicle weights).

“Prior to these new Isuzu vehicles being specified, we did our research across various truck manufacturers and by far Isuzu came out on top with regards to its proven payload, which is one of the most important features in running a municipal fleet,” says Scammell Commercial Operations Manager Neil Livermore. “The confidence and support from Isuzu in also providing a three-year warranty as standard was another key factor towards this decision as it enables us to have much greater control over the cost of ownership.”

    Popular Choices

The diverse new Isuzu trucks have been built to optimum body specifications for Scammell Commercial’s customers. The new additions include two Grafter N35.125 caged tippers, an N75.150 caged tipper, one F135.240 Hiab Multi-Lift hook loader truck, and two N75.150 rigids with refuse bodies.

“Ideally suited to the local authority marketplace, Isuzu caged tippers at both 3.5 t and 7.5 t are proving to be very popular in this sector, as too are the Isuzu 7.5-t refuse vehicles,” says Lee Tansley, national fleet sales manager, Isuzu Truck UK.

Municipal Hire For London’s Metropolitan Area

“Most of our leasing trucks operate in and around the London area, and a significant benefit of the Isuzu truck range is its compact footprint, not just at 3.5-t GVW but all the way up to 13.5-t GVW,” Livermore says. “The small footprint is ideal for working at sites across London where there is limited vehicle access, and in particular, we are finding that the 7.5-t Isuzu with the refuse bodies are becoming much more popular now for this reason alone.”

With a working life of at least five years (or much longer, in the case of the refuse vehicles), the compact footprint and proven payload of the Isuzu trucks attracts lessees now and into the future.
