Zenith Trailer Rentals Bolsters Fleet With 100 Schmitz Cargobull S.KO PACE SMART Semi-Trailers
Zenith Trailer Rentals, based in Kirkstall Forge in Leeds, recently expanded its fleet with the addition of 100 new Schmitz Cargobull S.KO PACE SMART semi-trailers to its hire fleet of more than 7,000 trailers. Zenith chose the trailers for their durability as well as shorter lead times offered by Schmitz Cargobull following an increase in production at their Manchester facility. The purchase marks Zenith’s first time working with Schmitz Cargobull.
The Right Fit
“Of course, we’ve always been aware of Schmitz Cargobull products and a combination of their strong reputation for building quality assets, and a proposal that exactly matched our requirements in terms of availability and specification meant they were a natural partner for us when it came to expanding our fleet,” says Zenith Trailer Rentals Managing Director Phil Rodman. “Ordering a trailer that’s built in the UK certainly has its advantages, particularly at a time when parts are hard to come by. Aside from the quality and long-term benefits that the semi-trailers offer, we were also impressed that Schmitz Cargobull could meet our demanding lead times.”
About The S.KO PACE SMART
The S.KO PACE SMART is fully modular, EN 12642 code XL-certified, and is equipped with TrailerConnect, Schmitz Cargobull’s telematics system. The trailers’ lightweight Struktoplast panels bring the total semi-trailer weight down to approximately 600 kilograms (1,322 pounds) less than competitive models for reduced fuel consumption and, by extension, lower carbon emissions. The S.KO PACE SMART does not absorb moisture, which keeps the tare weight consistent and ensures the payload potential is maintained.
The rear doors are made of a lightweight, durable aluminium that is corrosion-resistant. The perforated floors with sealed plates can handle stacker axle loads of 5,460, 7,100, and 8,000 kg (12,000, 15,650, and 17,600 lbs) and prevent moisture from reaching the freight. The trailers also have 400-millimetre (15.7-inch) steel or 1,200-mm (47-in.) aluminium base plates fitted just in front of the rear doors to protect the trailer from wear and tear while loading by forklift and extend the life of the trailer. Zenith Trailer Rentals expects to operate the trailers seven days a week for around 15 years.
