As part of its goal of carbon-neutral local transport, Daimler Truck premiered its Fuso Next Generation eCanter light truck for the European market at IAA Transportation 2022 in Hannover, Germany. The light-duty, battery-electric truck comes five years after the original eCanter and is the product of feedback from customers worldwide who put the truck to the test on over 6 million kilometres (3.7 million miles) of driving. UK sales of the new eCanter are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2023 with series production beginning later in the year.

“At Fuso, we are frontrunners in the electrification of commercial vehicles,” says Daimler Truck Asia CEO Karl Deppen. “Since the introduction of the small-series Fuso eCanter five years ago, we gained extensive experience and valuable feedback from customers running the trucks in daily operations. With the Next Generation eCanter, we are now offering our customers tailor-made eMobility solutions for a broad range of applications. By taking the next step extending our product portfolio and entering large-scale production we continue to lead the sustainable transportation of the future.”

Both motors produce 430 newton-metres (317 pounds-foot) of torque.
