Stone Mason Selects New 7.5-Tonne Isuzu Tipper For Large, Heavy Payloads

H.L. Perfitt relied on a 56-plate Isuzu for deliveries and other important task for a dozen years and liked it enough to replace it with another Isuzu, this one a 7.5-tonne tipper, when the time came. (Photo courtesy of Isuzu.)

For more than 12 years, H.L. Perfitt relied on a 56-plate Isuzu tipper to transport its headstones, kitchen worktops, and memorials. “The Isuzu had been a formidable truck in operation, however it was time for us to replace it with a more modern vehicle that meets all the latest emission criteria, as so much of our work is now in the London area,” says H.L. Perfitt General Manager Vikki Gordon. The stone mason business returned to Isuzu for its newest delivery vehicle, selecting an N75.150 equipped with a PD Stevens tipper body and a Palfinger cab-mount crane.

    Another Reliable Workhorse

“Payload was a critical factor behind the choice of new vehicle as the memorial headstones and kitchen worktops are both large and extremely heavy, with each one potentially weighing in at up to 1.5 tonne,” Gordon says. “Its Isuzu predecessor was a truly reliable workhorse, easily handling the complex delivery jobs for these weighty items, so we went like for like with its replacement.”

H.L. Perfitt outfitted the 7.5-tonne (8.3-U.S.-ton) N75.150 (E) rigid with a Palfinger PD5 501 SLD5 crane, which has a lifting capacity of 3,300 kilograms (7,275 pounds). The tipper body transports the headstones and worktops within an existing A-frame during deliveries and is equally suitable for removing scrap stone from the yard.

    Performance Never A Question

Isuzu 7.5-t trucks are available with tipper/arb tipper, dropside/beavertail, box-/curtainsider, and refrigerated bodies and either 150- or 190-horsepower (110- or 140-kilowatt) power plants. E models like H.L. Perfitt’s new N75.150 also come with an Easyshift automated transmission; non-E models come with Isuzu’s synchromesh manual transmission.

“Our Isuzu truck has become a critical part of our delivery operation, so the replacement Isuzu N75.150 was the perfect choice,” says Gordon. “Isuzu has proven to be the ideal versatile vehicle for our deliveries, not just in the capital but also for handling those journeys covering narrow rural roads elsewhere in the South of England.”
